Grant McCandless
Helping nonprofits and government agencies demonstrate measurable results and fund their missions
Grant McCandless provides tools and strategies that transform good intentions into measurable impact.
In driving social change, just like driving a car… if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.
Too many well-meaning organizations aren’t measuring the right things to know if they're moving the needle. Measuring people served doesn't tell us whether we're making progress on our missions, which we need to do if we're going to tell impactful stories and fund those missions moving forward.
Grant's talks provide tools and strategies that transform good intentions into measurable impact. Through accessible and dynamic workshops and seminars, operations and fundraising professionals learn how to demonstrate progress to funders (including taxpayers) and “tell the story of data.” Audiences walk away knowing how to read how fast their organization is moving, what goals it might achieve in the near future, and when to make a change in direction.
About Grant
Grant McCandless is the President and CEO of
Social Impact Consultants and the former Director of Research for RCG Economics.
He started his nonprofit career in 2013 with Habitat for Humanity International with a focus on strategic planning and performance measurement.
Through years of working for and with nonprofit and government entities Grant discovered that many struggle to demonstrate the measurable impact their funders (and potential funders) are waiting for. Combining his expertise in performance measurement with his passion for social impact, his professional speaking is driven by a mission to spur systemic change that helps children thrive—from affordable housing to community and economic development, and beyond. His accessible workshops and seminars inspire audiences to move beyond stories of impact (anecdotes) as he teaches participants how to "tell the story of data.”

Grant is a highly sought after consultant and professional speaker and is the author of the daily planner, Choosing What Not to Do in Nonprofit Leadership. The book is rooted in his experience working with nonprofit organizations and supplemented with thoughtfully curated selections of the best advice available for nonprofit leaders.

Grant has helped nonprofits and government agencies across the country demonstrate measurable results and tell the story of their data. In addition to Habitat for Humanity International, his clients include Nevada GrantLab, the Reno Housing Authority, Workforce Connections, and the Nevada Housing Coalition.

If you want your attendees to walk away challenged but also equipped to measure the right things to achieve their missions, then Grant McCandless is the right choice for your event.

Winning New Funding Streams with Operations Data
Fundraising professionals often wish they had some practical guidance on using data: who has it, how to understand and organize it, and how to present it to potential funders.
In this workshop/seminar, you will learn how to best use data from your operations division to tell the organization’s success stories.
By the end, you’ll understand how to create a simple dashboard of operations data (tied to your logic model) that will be impressively clear to your target audience/funders.
Paving the Road to Hell
Good intentions are enough… aren’t they? In this keynote, we’ll examine why they might not be–neither for nonprofits nor for public entities.
This inspiring presentation will clarify for both nonprofit and government leaders
-
why we settle for good intentions,
-
where that’s leading us,
-
and how to move beyond good intentions to measurable results.
If your attendees sometimes wonder whether just doing the right things is enough, this keynote speech is for you.
